Hi there The body, wheelspats are made from fibrelite foam. Its 2mm thick and when its on the chassis it is rock solid yet when off the chassis it can almost fold in half. Its the same foam that shop signs are made from. You cut it with sissors or a stanley knife. The hard bit is yet to come (making the clear canopy). like youre build ;D. Just out of curiosity do you know roughly what weight it will be when finished. Trying to compare as i have no means of weighing mine. www.theplasticpeople.co.uk/cuttosize-foam-board-white-p-104.html

Nice bit of ally work on the seat. Balancing the wheels and matching the amount of grab the brakes take on each side takes ages! keeping them balanced and drag free during racing is a constant concern.

I use these brake levers. They activate two brakes simultaneously and have a lever inside the balances the pull automatically. They are fail-operational, as even if one brake cable is missing or stuck the other will still work. Very simple, very effective and very easy to set up. I really should be on commission. www.bikecare.co.uk/product_info.php?acc=Dual_Brake_Lever&id=89

We run with a similar brake lever connected be a pull rod attached to the foot brake peddle. The lever we have also has a button that locks the lever in the on position so it can be used as a hand brake. For all that the brakes always seem to need fiddling with to have them set up so they have no bind in off position and balanced progressive grip as the brake is applied.

Sonds like exactly the same lever as mine - you can't see the hand brake lock button in the image as it's on the other side.

Testing went well , only tried on a gentle slope , my grandson was my "crash test dummy" ( fortunately no crashing ) i have had to gear the steering down a bit ,it was too twitchy at speed . as for the brakes i am going to get 4 new brake blocks and try again to balance them , nose cone is now in production

Is that a pre lit Westie you have as well? Is the plan to follow the Lotus 7 design?

Azuma , well spotted , it is a pre lit westie , not mine (wish it was ) belongs to my next door neighbor , it is my inspiration , any similarities to a pre lit westie and my Kart is purely intentional !! Colin Chapman is a hero of mine along with the likes of Jem Marsh ,Frank Costin etc
