Complete newbie to soap box racing, and after watching the youtube video would like to enter, along with a couple of other friends, the Avon Dassett soap box derby, but cant get onto the web site to get the rules, regs and sponsor forms, Im a complete technophobe on the computer, ive tried the link on petethebike`s post, what am I doing wrong?
I have started building my cart, but before I get to far I would like to know whats allowed and whats not. Thanks in advance.

Hi all, more news from glitch striken Avon Dassett. A brief summary of classes for entering;- Class 1 4 wheels Class 2 3 wheels Class 3 Sidecar outfits Class 4 Formula Libre, anything goes (within reason) with only limits on length and width. It is hoped to get entries from some of the car manufacturers and motor sport teams in the area. Hopefully the glitch will soon be banished and all the rules etc will be available.
One of our charities has been changed, instead of the Air Ambulance, this year we will be supporting The British Heart Foundation as well as Blesma.
Cheers, Pete.

Hi Pete, What class would you suggest that my mates and I enter? as we are complete soap box virgins, with a limited budget and using begged, stole, or borrowed parts.
Last night on my drive I marked out my floor pan for my cart, on a big heavy 8x4 sheet of 3/4 ply, with a large steel rule, piece of string, and marker pen, then I ran out of light, so I dragged the sheet back into my garage feeling good with my outline that I marked on the ply. Having looked on this thread when I got back into the house I had the wind knocked out my sails a bit, think its going to be a big learning curve, with entries from car manufacturers. But I suppose it all adds to the fun.
Cheers Martin.

Hi all,the "glitch" has been banished at last! You can now access the rules, entry forms etc, from the web sit address up post. Martin,I wouldn't worry about teams from manufacturers as they're most likely to be in Class 4. Simplest build would be a "delta" trike, but these do not handle the high speed bends well. Whatever you build, good luck with it.You're assured of a great day out,and it's all for good causes. By the way.Lady drivers are more than welcome. We've only had one to date, and she was a "pensioner"!!! Cheers, Pete.

Hi Pete, I asked my wife if she wanted to enter the soapbox derby, I wont repeat what she said anyway ive spent enough time and money on my cart and I have not finished it yet, let alone build one for the wife.
Im not that worried about the big boys entering, more the merrier as they say. Can we ask a couple more questions if you don't mind? can we organize sponsor forms, and what format is it, is the racing timed down the hill, or is it positional in heats? only I cant tell looking at youtube. I hope you don't mind us asking all these questions as we are complete newbies.
Cheers Martin.

Are Gravity Bikes still excluded from this event, or has the 'water hazard' been sorted? Not sure why a bit of water would be a problem though to be honest . . . Nearly ready . . .
