I have just found out about a new race that will take place on 2 June 2012 on the road down to the Humber Bridge viewing area on the north bank of the Humber. I have had a chat with one of the organisers and they are looking for entries. The rules and regs are based on those used by Richards Castle and most carts that run regularly are likely to comply. In any event, I don't think the organisers are really too bothered as long as the cart is reasonably safe. Their rules and regs actually give examples and sketches of brake and steering systems that are pretty scary by most peoples' standards Full details here: www.hessletowncouncil.gov.uk/docs/RANDR.pdfI have asked if I can run a sidecar and was told that I could, as long as I don't expect to win a prize if I'm the fastest on the day

Is thinking of going, but theres only one of me. Their rules ask for two team members to move the cart at the bottom of the hill. I might send an e-mail and see how hard and fast this rule is. And speaking of hard and fast.... me and Martin are taking our two out for a trial run this weekend.

Doesn't sound like a high speed track - the organisers have tested it with bikes and they were only doing about 20mph. Dick & I are racing at Border Bogies the weekend before and at Catterline on the weekend after, so we are unlikely to race. We have offered some help with timing gear etc

I think they have the gradient wrong. Looking at the contour lines on an OS map suggests that the drop is from 30m to about 20m above sea level (i.e about 1:45 or 2% average gradient). I have to travel up that way tomorrow and will have a better look, but I don't think there's going to be much danger of burning out your brakes on this course!

I had a look at the track on Friday evening. Hardy enough gradient to get my car rolling from a halt. Achieved all of 15mph before the bottom of the course. Looks like a course for really good bearings and lots of patience.

Hi all, we have a main prize of a mini cruise on P&O North Sea Ferries to either Amsterdam or Bruges and a one of a kind Help for Heroes Trophy, plus every winning category gets a salver plus a prize. Total prizes of about £500. We are trying to raise as much as we can for Help For Heroes and have some fun as well. Time is running short so anyone interested should apply now as late entries close 28 May!
The course is a virgin track and not too long we admit but never the less will be fun and for a worthy cause.

I think that following the success of this years event, plans are for this to happen again next year.
We went along and it was a cracking day out.
