Aye up boys and girls, had a test at the Annandale track early doors today (4 am) FFS!!!scary brilliant, speeds in the dry are well up on the estimates faster than aviemore. in the cart it's like driving off the side of a mountain picks up speed very quick then into fast left and you need the speed for the uphill. On the G bike its like watching the TT from last week got to have big bo**ocks to keep it flat out but you need the speed to get up the hill and lovely down the other side fast corners. I would think it will be a close call between the bikes and carts for fastest. the video doesent show the grass at the roadside is now 3 feet tall can't see very far ahead and your eyeline is only 24" off the ground, takes courage to turn in blind at 65 mph on slick tyres and makes the circuit feel very narrow. Anyone done any motorcycle racing in Ireland Dunrod, Carrogh ?feels just like that A real drivers/riders circuit plenty of very fast balsy corners be good to see who the real drivers and riders are. Last run on the bike, track was now damp...ooohhhh silly boy should have been like the GP boys and packed up while I was ahead but hey ho...very slippery ran off the road a couple of times, wrote the fairing off, woke the pit crew up but the pet rabbit is vey happy its got some new mown grass and dandelions to eat for lunch ;D I will post up the data from the garmin when I work out how to do it and get a minute...see ya on the hill canna wait

Yes there is if you are the fastest down the hill you can keep the Annandale Cup for a year and you might just get a Ucan T-shirt and some Strawberry tarts

Annandale Cup 2012 Race Report
The eagerly anticipated Annandale Cup 2012 took place on Sunday 15th July at Drumblade near Huntly. Due to work commitments, holidays, housing problems, hire vans being too small, mechanical failures and a horrendous racing incident at Cairngorm Soapbox Extreme which knocked out a further two competitors, the starting field for the inaugural Annandale Cup was some what depleted.
Race day started sunny and dry but unfortunately this was not to last as a heavy shower of rain started to fall as the competitors were being towed up the hill.
Practice began with the best time of 3:22 from Team Weasel sidecar, closely followed by Graham Kerr ( Pist 'n' Broke II ) one second behind with Barron Hall in (Roadrunner II ) on it's second competitive outing after running at CSEx 2012, in third. Team Bush Racing sidecar with it's revolutionary recumbent driver position nearly completed the course but blew a tyre near the finnish, earning them a DNF.
As the heavens opened, Run 1 got underway with Team Bush repairing their sidecar, Team Weasel completed the course in 3:23, with Roadrunner II nine seconds adrift and Pist 'n' Broke II in third spot. Former SCA Champion, Charlie Jackson of Team Alford was forced to abandon his run at Crossroads due to visibility problems caused by the canopy misting up and earned Charlie's first and only DNF of the day. Both street lugers Mark Fleetwood (Snowdon Luger) and George Cheeseman (Lone Luger) decided to sit out Run 1 due to the adverse weather conditions.
By now, hailstones were bouncing off of the racers canopies and helmets. Team Bush Racing with their sidecar clocked the fastest time of 3:19 for Run 2, with Team Weasel seven seconds behind and Barron Hall in third yet again. Graham Kerr spun at East Comalegy corner ripping off his canopy. This unfortunate incident would end Team Pist 'n' Broke's racing at the Annandale Cup 2012.
As racing continued the battle was on between Team Bush Racing and Team Weasel ! Stephen Hall put in his fastest time of the day at 3:18, with Team Bush Racing's sidecar at 3:26 and Roadrunner II in third.
Run 4 started on a sunny, yet damp track but as the conditions improved so did the times. With competitors starting at one minute intervals it was inevitable that someone would catch another competitor up should they any have problems. This would be the case for Team Weasel, as Martin Butler ( Roadrunner I ) set off down the course one minute ahead, but was in the process of being caught by Stephen Hall and James Hay in the Team Weasel sidecar. When at "East Com" corner, Martin spun a full 360° reducing his speed significantly and continued his run but was caught by Team Weasel and they both trundled over the finish line together. Team Bush Racing sidecar on their final run set a 3:16, which was the fastest time of the day.
The Annandale Cup is awarded to the team who manages to complete one competitive run in the fastest time. With the day's racing drawing to a close Colin Craig, Niall Anderson and Mihai Andrian ( Team Bush Racing sidecar) won the Annandale Cup - by two seconds to spare from Team Weasel sidecar.
The fastest street Luge was George Cheeseman in 4:00 with Mark Fleetwood in second ( his best time being 4:08 set in practice ).
Fastest Soapbox/ Cartie was Barron Hall (Roadrunner II ) with Graham Kerr ( Pist 'n' Broke II ) second and Charlie Jackson (Team Alford ) in third.
This year, the Annandale Cup gravity time trial was a fiercely contested event, hopefully in 2013 runs will be faster and the Scottish weather will be a little bit kinder.
Andrew Donald Chairman British Isles Gravity Bike Association.
