This picks up on CCs (Catterline Carties ) postings under 'Event Classification' in Soapbox section. This crosses Gravity Sports (gs) disciplines.
I had asked about objective criteria for describing venues to others. CC described his technical approach to CSEx and (I think) raised leadership issues for organisers.
Technical Approach
Is this/ should this be part of the standard toolkit for organisers ? Is it/should it be part of the Risk Assessment?
On the Ground Approach
Should we encourage use of a checklist? If so perhaps: Course length; inclination; bends and hazards; surroundings and facilities; pits/assembly area; run -off and recovery area? Ownership? camping etc? Are there clusters of carties, lugers etc locally?
How to maintain security of the venue/prospective venue to deter free spirits who might use the venue w/o permission and so hinder an organised event?
Leadership issues
The problem I believe CC is raising (correct me if wrong) is when people turn up for scrutineering with their outclassed pride and joy representing many hours of work to build or buy, or in unsuitable protective clothing etc , having travelled halfway across the country. Does this deter participants in gs? How to counter this?
The idea of 'pre- registration' ( basically one-off scrutineering I think) for machines etc was floated in relation to Cadwell and a possible local league to streamline scrutineering. Would this help? Would this transfer to other gs disciplines?
Over to you folks...
