Hi all, Last weekend, us and the lot have been downhill in the Ardennes again (Ardennes= Battle of the Bulge, 101st airborne, Band of Brothers stuff ) What a hefty thing it was as roads are dusted with sand sometimes instead of salt in winter conditions... The end result was a dessert storm look-a-like movie with no breaking at all....this road will be used for a Belgian Free Ride at 1 & 2 July 2006! Video link here www.putfile.com/dje go for "The Fifth Degree Under Zero" movie...the title says all about the temperature too ;D So...hardly no breaking available this weekend...this set me off thinking about things again... Here's the clue...why not building a tri-cycle luge with a disk brake in the back... Has this been done before?...at least it would be nice project to put my hands on :-) I plan to use a front wheel axle of a Vesper P200 plus it's disk brake...all this happens to be available from my treasure cellar ;D Vespa front original... Inventor work in progress...a Roger Brothers type of tube frame would do... Another view... So...If I would construct a tricycle luge with a wheel, plus disk, in the back...Would that be a feasable thing to do or is it a real no-go ? Think free ride, not competitieve...as I will sure have to replace the grease with oil based lubricants...all stuff is just available here to do the funky test Greetttzzz, Ive

Hey Ive!
A non-competitive luge is easy to make - just take any old luge, and get Joel to ride it. He'll be losing races in no time!!!

Hi all,
As you can see in the beginning of this thread...I did some work on designing a frame that could go along with this break-luge thingy...
What I need now are some exact measurements of a Roger Brothers luge...not to build an exact copy , but just to get hings in the right proportions...
Anyone?...Tom W?...
Cheers!
Ive

Yah, someone I know has one as well, completly nuts, but the long wheelbase on your design should help a bit.

Well well...I saw those polyester luges and/or buttboards at the Olympiste thingy 2 weeks ago.... Seriously, I'd better have a go at one of them, no? As I can hardly do some welding here anyway or at least find some chrome molybdene tubing...I might as well go for some serious mold building that could result in a splendid composite luge...
This one got into my restless brains for a while....no use modifying my luge as it is now...better to buld something completely new !!!
As always, still busy....

i had a sit in one of them and they really held you in it, i think that they are more designed for that track with the short wheelbase andi found it very differcult to sit up and brake. but they were veeeery nice
