Over the years I've lost enough skin and flesh along the Southsea snake run to feel a personal bond with the place...
I'm thinking about going down to this tomorrow - Anybody else coming? S&B, you guys around??
Ride hard, Stay safe, Save Southsea!!!

Well bugger me with a fish fork! Get a load of this: www.pm.gov.uk/output/Page13600.asp Particularly this bit: "Read the Government's responseAs Government, we want every community to have access to as wide a range of sports facilities as possible, and we are also keen to make sure these facilities are open to all. The Government believe sport and exercise has considerable power to engage, unite and motivate people; it can break down barriers, promote social inclusion, and improve health. Regular participation in sport can reduce obesity and improve fitness levels and self-esteem. The Government is unable to get involved in the decision-making processes of local authorities who are the main providers of sports and recreation facilities in their areas and are best placed to make the difficult decisions about what facilities to provide at the expense of the local taxpayer. In doing so, it is critical that local authorities plan strategically for the future, to ensure that all community needs are catered for. However, the Government understands that the council has had a change of heart and that Southsea skatepark will now remain open throughout the winter and beyond. Government further understands that the council is committed to the future of the park and is looking at a range of options both internally and externally. The Government would encourage the Southsea skatepark users group to continue to make its case with the council."

I think the bandstand bit is grade two listed...not sure what that means though as the council seams to tear down whatever it feels like...anyhow further to the campaign to save it... Love Southsea is selected for the 5th London Short Film Festival 4th – 13th January 2008. It will be shown as part of the documentary programme screening at the Roxy Bar & Screen on Wednesday 9th January from 7pm. Entry to the event is free. The film was made as part of the campaign to help save our local skatepark. Go along and support the cause! www.shortfilms.org.uk/www.roxybarandscreen.com/www.saftandboneless.co.uk/A big thanks to all the interviewees and musicans Sr-o.
