I have now make a basic frame for my gravity racer and need to design my suspension, it seems that no shock absorbtion is required.I also need to choose and get hold of some wheels and brakes I was thinking of using pit bike wheels but they do seem to be a bit on the heavy side so what wheels should I use I was wanting to run disk brakes. Can I use wheelchair hubs and make 16 or 20 inch wheels up. Please can you give me some advise as I now need to source the wheels etc before I go any further. Thanks Matty

16" BMX wheels seem to be the best, followed by 20". Ideally you want double walled rims that take 32 spokes for 16" rims and 48 spokes for 20" rims. All the parts I'm using came from the local tip and the only 16" wheels I found are 28 spoke so I'll build them with triple laced spokes. For extra strength I'm considering soldering some wire around every place where the spokes cross over another spoke.
Wheelchair hubs are good because they usually have thicker axles than BMX wheels although you can get BMX wheels with 14 mm axles and some wheelchair axles are only 12 mm in the hub.
This is what I'm building for my cart but until I've finished and tested it I can't guarantee it will be OK. After reading all the tips and advice from a couple of forums my wheels should be strong enough.
Cheers
Paul
