“The Universal Code”, that idea must have come from Uranus.

Yet another 'universal' rulebook....
In the gravity car section, I notice that the wheels cannot be more than 250mm high, so that means max wheel diameter of 250mm?? Do decent wheels (not wheelbarrow/pushchair wheels etc) that small even exist? I don't think any current team uses wheels that tiny?

All very restrictive and seems to err on the side of caution in lots of ways, but then the rollover protection is assessed on the basis of whether the scrutineer can distort it using his own strength - not really very scientific. Also, a wall of hay bales that's two bales high to protect spectators (- I assume they mean small bales, otherwise nobody could see over them) is really nothing like substantial enough to protect a spectator if the cart is doing more than walking pace.
I think we should read the document and see what what we can learn from it, but an initial skim read would suggest that we are actually already doing things better than the Aussies.

I agree that the bit about the scrutineer being able to bend the roll bar is not good. The amount of stength a person has can vary massivly and even if a very strong man cannot bend the roll bar, it may still not be strong enough. There is also a risk of injury to the scrutineer if they try too hard to bend the roll bar and injury is what we are trying to avoid. There is also the issue of stiffness and stength which are diffrent things.

I know there is a lot of dispute with the gravity bike categories. UK riders are not liking it much. Stock frames and custom frames Hmmmm. With bikes it is the size of the fairing that makes the difference in speed from my experience. at Dalby for instance if the code's frame categories were in place, my two STOCK bikes would have beat 3 out of the 4 CUSTOM framed bikes. But if Ian Round turned up on his 3/4 faired bike, he would have probably beaten us all. I just don't think it would work as well as what we have at the moment and would limit the number of people we could race against. I do like the rider racing rules and code of conduct though, think this would be good to use as a rider's briefing before we race
