Hi, looking to buy a robust video camera, which one would folk suggest, would like to hear from folk who have/do use them, whether they think they are any good or what they wish they had spent their money on. Is it worth the extra for HD etc etc.?
Cheers Neil

While I've not tried them myself I've heard good reports about the Contour HD and Go-Pro Helmet hero HD.

I gave up with the video camera we had because you couldn't see what it was actually filming. I now use the video facility on my cheap digital cameras Samsung L830 @ £35:00 and Samsung ES73 @ £75 The quality of the videos seems good and the cameras are easy to set but really need to be mounted in sight and reach of the driver otherwise you use up nearly 1GB per run with a lot of stuff filmed you don't actually want. Also to load another card involves demounting the camera. Certainly Colin's video camera is great but was beyond my price tag just to use three or four times a year. To me the ideal would be some sort of remote record on/off switch that can be operated with gloves on and the camera mounted out of harms way properly set at the correct height and angle.

fit like guys ? I've been using helmet cameras for years now and learn't a lot about what will and does go wrong , broken many :-( What you want is a GoproHD even better than what I use they go full 1080p HD @30fps 15mbit/s data rate. Great colour and pinsharp images for 250 quid and very robust. I use a few but the one on the cartie outside and in the MIdge Cam is a ContourHD the shape of the case meets my needs better as the form factor of the HDhero is a very boxie. The inside footage is from a 640x480 bullet camera and recorded on a non HD chasecam not so many pixels but good colour and contrast for incar-tie shots. Check out AAL medias DVD its gonna have some great footage.
