Sorry to be whinging again folks but I think I have a legitimate right! WAY before the yuletide festivities, I began organising a promotional jolly at the G-Mex in Manchester, showcasing the Gravity Sports we love to the general public. After much deliberation, I decided it was only fair to give the UKGSA and SSSprint a chance to get their noses in the trough and spread THEIR word.(seeing as mine is SOOOO contrary to the "norm" (??)) Upshot has been that after lashing out on stand and hiring equiptment to build the stand, NO-ONE! ...thought it important enough to get heads together and put on a show for these people. Regretfully, I had to cancel the event at the 11th hour due to there being no-one and nothing but me and my luge to display ...... F#@8ing embarrassing!!! Thanks guys for showing your true colours and the pure unadulterated APATHY that seems all to prevelent in this country! Rant all you want about the trivia that this board is loaded with, what will it solve?? UK Gravity Sports Association??? .....UK Gives Sod All more like!

Mark
Loads of us were interested in going along, but unlike you we all have jobs (even me now). The days of the event were simply impossible for us to attend, it is NOT that we "couldn't be bothered." So soon after Christmas it is impossible to get days off.
As for doing nothing, I suggest you come along to the meeting on the 29th and see for yourself. You might just find that we have secured several more venues for this year (on the verge of more), a sponsor for the season, affiliation with several Soapbox and Gravity Racer organisations, etc. etc.
Do NOT undermine the hard work and dedication of the UKGSA because we didn't have time to travel across most of the country and go to your show. If you loved the sport so much you would take up peoples offers of demonstration equipment and go anyway. After all:

Oh yes,
and the IGSA have approached US for affiliation and set out a very benificial proposal. There are BIG things in the works.
Surly you would have wanted to use the Show to promote the event that you are supposedly putting on?

If you and others did your homework, you'd have known that the South Wales event was cancelled some months ago and didn't take off for much the same reasons. Good luck with "your" efforts, shame the bigger picture was not taken into account too. As for jobs, give me a break! In the 3 weeks over Christmas I drove over 3000 miles working alongside my wife, kept a clean home, walked the dog, Xmas shopped 'til I dropped AND still had time to organise/chase up the event. So stop making excuses for the apathy shown. The damage has been done! IF, and I do emphasise IF, I were to try this again, what assureances can anyone give to change this sad view of life in Gravity Sports. I am sick and tired of YOU Joel, acting the "Big Cahuna", laying down the law as to what people can do or say as regards ANY form of Gravity Sport/Pastime. Get a life and actually do something yourself, instead of showing off in front of cameras. Glory seeking is not an attractive trait in any human being!

I suggest ALL UKGSA members take these to heart!

Mark i am getting rather tired of hearing your constant rants via this website, These things often dont come off at the first attempt, as i said before manchester/edinburgh are too far away and as for wales i refuse to go there as it is full of welsh people I hope that we are going to actually see you at some races this year as opposed to your constantly talking a good game via this and numerous other websites. As for promoting gravity sports;well so far due to your comments previously regarding the british scene being dead you have so far done more damage than good. may i therefore suggest you take up rollerblading!!!

I'd like to brag at how damn nice my Luge looks.
I do like to ride it slower than everyone else so that people can get a good look, and preen theri hair nnd make up in its mirror like finish. (Thanks Len!)
And in Joels defence, I dont see the traits you accuse him of i'm afraid Mr Simpson. He's been nothing more than supportive and encouraging to me since day 1.
Next, resorting to insults like 'Jerks breed' shows a complete lack of imagination, and alienates you with just the people who would like to help you. I was prepared to help at the Alexdra Palace event as I live nearby. (The event was cancelled)
Now you've had a pop at two of my chums I dont think id be willing to help you do up the zip on your party dresses now.
If you'd like to take a pop at me for supporting my friends then please feel free. But don't expect me to help you if you do.

Mark Simpson....you really are totally out of order with this G-Mex thing! I can confirm that several members were ready and waiting with items organised for this event, and we were simply waiting for details and organisation/procedures to be published/communicated to us. Mark....you never gave us a chance......you've offered us a carrot....and then removed it.....and then more importantly, you've judged and condemned us for not taking any action....or so you percieve it! Mark.......you need to take a much more balanced view of things. An announcement of the deadline approaching and the consequences, would have at least brought a measured response from those interested? Now, we've all lost out. Arn't we all really on the same side?

Sorry for the dumbing down with the "jerk" comment, but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it probably IS a duck! The juvenile nature of this board is obviously rubbing off on me too! Question: Why does beating everyone on the circuit make you more qualified to market concepts, products and ideas to the public? ...My experience in this field would probably "wup your ass" so lets have less flippancy on such a serious subject. As for you Derek, AGAIN please check your facts. ANYONE with ANY interest in helping to make the G-Mex thing work would have got off their fat backsides and found out what deadlines were, ostensibly by PHONING ME! As Graham said he was volenteered to do the liasing with me, I expected a lot more than an initial call to inform me he was on the case. Whilst he was obviously under pressure at work and knew the time constraints we were under, unless he tells me he can't do it, I have to trust he can deliver. May be he should have delegated? Ding Boston, a busy man too I assume, found the time to put a Yahoo message out, but that was the end of it. Excuses don't wash where ever they come from. EVEN FROM THE TOP!
I have decided to try one more time, dates to be confirmed, to organise something along the same lines. IF you want to be INVOLVED, get some relevant literature and video footage for UKGSA/SSSprint available soon.
NOW instead of ranting about how hard you got it, go away and think. THIS SHOULD BE THE LAST ON THE SUBJECT! I am a "doer" so I shall be going away to "do"

From mark simpsons website:
The opportunity to exhibit Gravity Sports to the public at the G-Mex Exhibition Centre in Manchester this weekend has been lost! After liasing with members of the UKGSA and SSSprint to provide their own literature, various video footage and examples of G-Bikes and Buttboards, NOTHING was forthcoming in time to transport it to the Halls for settup on Thursday. As a result, with very little to display, and to "cut the losses" I had the sad duty of cancelling the show. I, personally, am very disappointed, and so should every Gravity Sportsman and woman in the UK. Yet another opportunity to expand the rider base and sponsorship of Gravity Sports in the UK has been WASTED! Are these the people we are relying on to take Gravity Sports into the 21st century? If so, God help us all!
hmmmmmmmmm........how to win friends and influnece people?

and another thing Mark, if you have spo mch experiance of promoting things....your website. Couple of questions. 1) Your 'Store' cant spell Randal. 2) You havent even bothered to register www.streeetsports.com, your stores name. The 3 'e's are deliberate I presume? From what I can see you are hiding a business behind a forum. I think you should be more upfront about what your really up to? ??

To Someone with half a brain and Norman
We do prefer it if people post with their real name, or a nickname of whom the owner is known. If you have any belief in what you said then you would not do this.
Have some guts
