Hi Guys
Are there any dates already planned for 2014? I'm working on an event at a hill climb and don't want it to clash with any other events.
Cheers
Will

The calendar at scottishcarties.org.uk will give you confirmed 2014 dates - there are some already there for next year. Also the 2013 dates will give you an idea of when the 2014 races will be as they tend to be the same weekend each year. New dates are being added all the time. Best to get it on the calendar asap. Are you planning to allow carties and sidehacks?

The plan is to hold a different days at this one track, a skate/luge race, a soapbox/sidecar/gbike race and a training day.

Cool. Keep us in the loop as the SCA have some potential new races too and, as you say, it'd be good to cooperate and avoid needless clashes.

Excellent, thanks for this. So far it's looking like 2 different venues, with a two day and a one day soapbox event

Would people be interested in a soapbox two day event over Easter on the 20th/21st?

Potentially. Depends where it is really. Presuming you mean Sunday 20th April and Monday 21st?
Generally, though, it seems that the one day events are more popular.

SCA - I'm not too sure - I think quite a few teams do like the two day events - especially if travelling. Dalby and CSE were both two days and I think that was one of the reasons they were well attended. Sometimes it also depend on where the event is. If its not that accessible or one of the more challenging then a two dayer is probably the way to go. However, there are always going to be one day events which suit the events like Borders / Catterline. Just my personal feelings - what does everyone else think? A healthy debate may help organisers and racers alike??

I know there are some that prefer two day soapbox races of the type pioneered by the Scottish Cartie Association at Cairngorm Soapbox Extreme, but what I'm saying it that I think the one day events are more popular.
There were only two two-dayers planned for this year; Annandale and Drumlanrig, and they have both been cancelled. Annandale was cancelled due to lack of entries. Entry numbers were not a factor in the cancellation of Drumlanrig but it had only had about a dozen entries when the plug was pulled earlier this month. Meanwhile, one day races such as Richards Castle and Worlaby continue to attract a large numbers of entries despite both being run on the same day.

We're running a wee survey over on the SCA web site to see whether one day or two day races are more popular. At the moment, one day races seem to be slightly more popular.
