Having developed plans for our mark 2 Gravity Cart we had commenced the material acquisition phase when our event was permanently cancelled.
The mark 2 was based on wheelchair stub axles and hubs, using the mounting bosses from the wheelchair frames. This appeared to be the best design route using well made components and enabling the wheel track to be maximised for a given overall width of cart.
We now have 3 pairs of stub axles, hubs and mounting bosses for sale. The hubs still have wheelchair spokes, rims and tyres attached. All six sets available for £30.
We are near Stratford upon Avon. email: ukgsa@ehale.co.uk.

I'm sorry to hear your event is no longer running - I'm presuming it was the Haselor Soapbox Derby. There are a few races near you though, so you could always complete your build and enter them instead. There's one at Avon Dasset, Hinkley, and of course the magnificent Richard's Castle. Have a look at the map on scottishcarties.org.uk/forum/soapboxRacesInUKAndIreland for others near you.

Hi Catterlinecarties, correct presumption it was just a local village event which we were keen to support. Have just sold the mark 1 cart on this site and we weren't really up for completing the build on mark 2 but we had fantastic fun over the two years of the Haselor event. Then to Stugly, thanks for your interest the material we had collected is as stated 6 wheelchair wheels and hubs including the chassis mounting bosses off the wheelchairs. Photo attached. As you can see the wheel hubs/bearings and stub axles are the core parts, two wheels are 36 spoke and 4 are 28 but with a new machined spoke ring the hubs could be converted to any number of spokes to suit new rims. The existing rims/tyres are all 37- 501 (22" x 1 3/8") and are useable but may not be optimum for side loads, we used 20" wheels on our mark 1 with bolted wheel discs and they were quite strong enough, so you could follow that cheaper route I guess? The stub axles are 12.7mm dia and fit a 30mm long boss, all included as part of the wheelchair chassis's as shown, one pair of bosses are clamp mounted the others are brazed and integral to the uprights. It's a great start to a new project and we spent a lot of time collecting and buying these parts ready to go. I should add that no wheelchair users were injured or harmed during this process!
