Hello All! There's a little team of us getting the ball rolling for a 2 day event at Scammonden Dam on the 21st and 22nd of April. It would be an event for all disciplines (Luge/Buttboard/Gravity Bikes/Side-Car/Skaters/Soapbox/etc.) I've walked the course and I can safely say it is brilliant, if a little steep to walk back up More details will be up soon! If you're interested it'd be great if you could leave a comment, thanks!

Great news. Team Weasel are definately interested in bringing our sidehack. I've added the date to the calendar on ScottishCarties in an attempt to prevent any date clashes. Let us know when you have more details about entries, tech' spec', etc. (Incidentally - we're working on a new tech' spec' for Cairngorm Soapbox Extreme 2012 and will have it published later this month - you might want to have a look at that when it's finished)

I suspect it is the hill climb course (see here). 500 - 600m in length with a ~60m drop, depending on where the start and finish lines are placed, with predicted top speeds over 50mph according to CartieSim. There are three significant bends, meaning that handling and driver skill will be critical factors in getting a good time. This is definately not a drag race - you're going to need good grippy tyres and effective brakes. Is this being organised by the UKGSA? Here's a vid of a sidehack at Scammonden;

Alternatively - same cartie and same venue, but with a different paint job a slightly different end result...

Good to see interest from side-hackers - should be a brilliant race for our class (and may be for us if we can sort our brakes)

Hi all, looks like it will be a busy Spring with the possibility of two new events. If this winter is anything like the last it won't be practical for me to build a new cart starting this late in the year so I shall just have to pick and choose which events to go to with my old cart out of Scammonden, Howes Road Aberdeen, Border Bogies, Catterline, Dalby Forrest. Will just have to wait and see if the old girl meets any new Spec' for Cairngorm and if any of the other organisers decide to adopt them in 2012.
