It's down to a little thing called importing. This carries with it two costs. 1. Shipping, as most of this equipment is made in the States it's gotta get here some how and this has to be paid for. 2. Import Tax, bless the Government if they don't want to go and add on additional charges by making a company pay to bring things into the country. All this adds up and so gets passed on to us. Arn't we lucky Joel

hey sorry back after a long spout of f*@k#>g broken pc`s ( im the one joel beat at white air because i crashed out with an over dose of adrenalin)
kkd i ride and rode Krypto's at white air ,which is a demanding course in terms or cornering and managed to set the fastest time on buttboard on saterday(the first day which was ,,damp)and came 3rd (also 3rd in gravity bike which i was not best pleased with)over all .so i think this may prove the cornering ability as well as what i belive to be better high speed ability than the flash backs (i cloncluded this from santas buttboard bash where every one else was riding flash back and i was on my kryptonics ,on the straight ()at home farm )every time i seemed to have the upper hand with seriouly bad berings. i rode flash back at both events and found the kryptonics to be better over all!! also they are cheper than the abec`s including the damded english tax sytem
but every man to himself i will admit flash backs sceem very stabel at high speeds. not that krypto`s dont
((((((((((( ;Dknoledge of youth ,with very bad spelling but oh well)))))))))

is that because the kyrpts arent as wide? the massive width of the grippins and flashbacks must have some affect on the top speed?

I ride 75a flashies a lot, lovely predictable powerslides and quite smooth....in my opinion they have been overtaken by my 69mm Manx 88a's which hold the line even better and they wear a lot better too. The big thick lip they have has minor distortion in a hard carve and digs in real good. I think a set of manx's are the same price as the flashies, last longer look better, ride perhaps a little better too. I think somebody rode Avillas last year, what were they like?

Ask Luke at Casperskates for Manx wheels he should have a few in, other than that Stridey at Octane sports will have a load......my personal fave hardness is 80a kind of a halfway point.

ive had a few ideas on wheels. my sled has one truck front, one back, which will let me use different sized wheels on the back than on the front (i wouldnt do that on a 2 front truck set up.) my metal sled has the rear truck a over 12 inches behind my head and it keeps sliding out at high speed sharp turns. i dont want to drill holes closer to my head, so i thought i could use wheels that are more "sticky" than the fron wheels. with only one truck on the front, the front and rear wheels dont even have to be the same size. by the way, if you build your own luge, i would recommend makeing more holes on the back so that you can move your truck(s) if the trucks set to far back it is not good for high speed sharp turning - great in the straights and long "sweepers" - but not in hight speed tight turns. also, there are some rubber luge wheels made here in the states, i have a set just in case i have to race a wet road. they are made by extreme wheels. fast eddie outty

I ride krypto's but must admit this has nothing to do with choice as they were attached when I got the luge. I really don't have the faintest idea about the set up of the thing - I think I am using butt board trucks too.
I have never really found the whole set up a problem but this could be due to the fact that it has been a long time since I tried anything else.
It is difficult to assess the stability of the wheels at high speed as I have always attributed the looseness of the back end of the luge through the twisties to the fact that the luge itself flexes so much
In a straight line the wheels seem as steady as anything (as long as the trucks are on the right way of course - ref Dalby1 review), but I think that has more to do with the fact that I am such a fat b*st*rd as anything else and would explain the reason why everyone can draft me on the straights so easily (and why I can't see where I am going - belly sticks out too much) - well that is my story and I am sticking to it

Hey Lee
As we have the same board, but a completly different setup (I run Randal Luge trucks and 80mm Flashbacks) we could do a swap and see how each others boards ride. Will you be coming along to Gurston, or will the next time we meet be at Dalby in April?

Hi Joel, I never did receive one of chalky's masterpeices - he did make me one, he even said it was the sweetest yet - but it got lost in the post! So he let me have an old one boomed one that was knocking round. I thought it was awful at first adn kept grounding out because of the flex, but after jacking it up a bit I now think it is great. Well it was at Dalby anyway. You are more than welcome to have a go though. I would welcome a second opinion. Wll try and get to Gurston, if not the first one then later in the year - I will need the practice before going one better this year at Dalby

thats right. I did remember that ur luge got lost, but wasn't sure if you had eventually got a new one.
I might have a go at swapping with you, but I havn't ridden a boomed luge since I got my Chalky special. Might be a bit wierd. If I don't use yours you are still more than welcome to give mine a go while I ride Buttboard. Do you have one of those?
